Marina BayExplore, exchange, entertain at Marina BayDiscover a rich variety of shopping, dining, entertainment and recreation options at Marina Bay, Singapore's future downtown in the making. Growing seamlessly from the existing central business district and surrounded by sparkling water and lush gardens, Marina Bay will be a distinctive business and financial hub, a delightful home in the city, and a dynamic playground brimming with round-the-clock energy and vibrant activities for people from all walks of life. Visitors can enjoy breathetaking, panoramic views of the city and beyond on board the 165-m high Singapore Flyer observation wheel, opened in March 2008. Surrounding the Singapore Flyer is a two-storey terminal building that houses a shopping mall, a central atrium with lush rainforest and water features, a retail and entertainment centre, an alfresco waterfront dining promenade and an open-air Greek Theatre concert bowl for live performances. Threatre lovers and concert-goers must catch a performance at Esplanade - Theaters on the Bay, the city's world-class performance arts centre. Because of the distinctive thorny patterns on its dome-shaped roofs, Esplanade is fondly known to Singaporeans as "The Durian", a tropical fruit with a prickly rind. Enjoy free outdoor performances along the Esplanade Waterfront every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, and free lunchtime concerts at the Esplanade Concert Hall every last Tuesday of the month. For some retail therapy, head for the Esplanade Mall, but if shopping is not your thing, chill out at the many entertainment spots. For an extensive range of arts-related books and multimedia collection, visit library@esplanade, Singapore's first performing arts library, located on level 3 of Esplanade Mall. When the sun sets, indulge in some of Singapore's best street food at Makansutra Gluttons Bay next to Esplanade Mall. Enjoy some of Singapore's best loved local street food like char kway teow, satay, chilli crab, oyster omelette and barbecued chicken wings, or just chill out with iced sugar cane juice or a glass of cold beer. Avid shoppers are spoilt for choice as Marina Bay offers a mix of family-oriented malls and high-end shopping arcades like Marina Square, Millenia Walk, Raffles City Shopping Centre, Suntec City Mall and CityLink Mall, Singapore's only underground shopping mall. Marina Bay also hosts many celebrations, from the signature Marina Bay Singapore Countdown on New Year's Eve and National Day Celebrations, to adrenaline-pumping water and land-based sports such as Formula One SingTel Singapore Grand Prix, the world's first night race on a street circuit. As Marina Bay offers a kaleidoscope of activities and events all year round, there is always something for everyone. Coming Up at Marina BayThe future of Marina Bay is exciting, with many new developments that will transform its landscape and Singapore's city skyline under way. Come 2009, the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort (IR), Singapore's first integrated resort, will open. In addition to hotel and convention facilities, the resort will offer entertainment, theme attractions, luxury retail, world-class restaurants and casino gambling. The resort will house the ArtScience Museum, an amphitheatre at night for up to 3,000 people and the 1-hectare Sky Park, a playground of leisure space with gardens, swimming pools, jogging paths and terraces. Nature lovers will be able to seek respite from the heat at Gardens by the Bay, which will make Marina Bay a unique city-in-a-garden. The green lungs of the city, the Gardens will feature a conservatory complex, a flower market and SuperTrees that incorporate vertical greenery with environmentally sustainable functions. In the pipeline is also a continuous waterfront promenade with a new iconic bridge for pedestrians, linking all the attractions in a walking loop around the Bay. When Marina Barrage is completed, Marina Bay will be transformed into Singapore's first city reservoir for leisure and a spectacular venues for motorised and non-motorised water-cased activities. With so much to offer, you're sure to find something exciting, enriching and inspiring to do at Marina Bay. Embrace the world at Marina Bay! |

This is a place you have to stay once to say you have been, and then every other time stay somewhere else. We had a great room and view, but it was too big and busy for us.
