Singapore Biennale 2012

Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is the organizer of the Singapore Biennale 2012. Titled Open House held from 13 March – 15 May 2012, it features over 150 works by 63 artistes from 30 countries. It is presented in 4 venues; SAM, SAM at 8Q, National Museum of Singapore and Old Kallang Airport. Open House brings together artworks that offer multiple perspectives and myriad creative approaches. Invoking thoughts of how we move across borders, see other points of view, and form connections with others. Over half of the artists will present new commissions or premiering new works.

A must-see interesting artwork is The Merlion Hotel created by Tatzu Nishi. The hotel is built around the Merlion, Singapore’s icon and managed by Fullerton Hotel. Nishi brings us closer to this monument that usually towers far overhead. Visitors can visit the hotel in the day while guests will check in the night.
